Great Is HIS Faithfulness

As a caring Father and God at the same time, His ways of teachings and reminders can be so unique and so unexpected. Each morning when I come in to work, from the car park, I was blessed to witness a demonstration of God’s care for us. There was an uncle who always comes early bringing a bag of grains with him. As I watched from the car park 5th level, I could see him throwing the grains on the ground at the open space car park. As you can guess, very soon, birds flew down and have a ‘morning feast’.

I was reminded of the verse where Jesus said, Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? “ (Matthew 5:26) When we look at how intricate our universe is and how God created the earth in 6 days, indeed, we can agreed with what David said in the psalms, “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” (Psalm 8:3-4)

However busy God may be, He never miss spending time in listening to all our prayers. The steadfast love of our God never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness, great is thy faithfulness….. May we keep our eyes open as we experience His love and care for us daily through the works of His hands.

Grace

This week I had been listening to a song titled “Grace”. The  lyrics of the song were really meaningful and its verses may have reflected one way or the other in our journey with our Father, where at times we felt like we have disappointed God, or we ask God who are we to serve Him despite of all of our weaknesses and sins. Though the price that we could never pay was paid at Calvary, but may we learn to obey our Father and to seek His face daily.

The lyrics of the song are as below. May you be blessed by it as much as I have been blessed.

My heart is so proud.

My mind is so unfocused.

I see the things You do through me as great things I have done.

And now You gently break me,

then lovingly, You take me and hold me

as my father and mold me as my maker.

* I ask you: “How many times will you pick me up

when I keep on letting you down?

And each time I will fall short of Your glory,

how far will forgiveness abound?

And You answer: ” My child, I love you.

And as long as you’re seeking My face,

You’ll walk in the power of My daily sufficient grace.

At times I may grow weak and feel a bit discouraged,

knowing that someone, somewhere could do a better job.

For who am I to serve You?

I know I don’t deserve You.

And that’s the part that burns in my heart

and keeps me hanging on. (*)

As I walk with You, I’m learning what Your grace really means.

The price that I could never pay was paid at Calvary.

So, instead of trying to repay You,

I’m learning to simply obey You by giving up my life to you;

for all that You’ve given to me. (*)

WHO Is In Your Heart?

Matthew 6:19-21 tells us that we shouldn’t be attached/devoted to our things here on earth; rather, we should focus on heavenly things. Because ‘where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’ If we place such a high importance on worldly things, we are devoting our heart to them instead of God. These can be anything: our careers, popularity, even a relationship with somebody else whom you think about more than God.

And Mark 12:30 tells us to ‘love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ If we devote our hearts and our minds to thinking and desiring things (or people) more than God, we are breaking this commandment.

That is why, when God desires us to repent and return to him, he usually goes for the things that are closest to our hearts that are separating us from him. And that is why discipline from God hurts us so much. Psalm 39:11 says:‘when you discipline a man with rebukes for sin, you consume like a moth what is dear to him.’ (Notice the similar imagery used in Matthew 6.)

God is a jealous God. He doesn’t want anything that takes his rightful place in your heart. Make him your treasure; then your heart will be set on him. Don’t wait for him to discipline you, because then it will hurt a lot.
