“Londonnn…erm…Penang (2nd) Bridge Came Falling Down…”

I would like to take this opportunity to share about the short encounter that I had on the passed 2 Thursdays. Some said that I cheated death, while some said that I was so bad till God does not want to accept me :p But as for me, I say that God wanted me to learn something and to remind me of His great love for me and for all.

That Thursday was just like any other Thursday that I had. I left work around 7pm and I drove towards the ramp where the 2nd bridge link was. As I was driving, somehow I was reminded again of some of the past incidents where God watches over me as well as how He helps me through my work which had been piling up as high as Kota Kinabalu (oo..ok.. I am just exaggerating but you can guess from this that work was a bit stressful for me for the past few months). Anyway, as the train of thoughts ended, I was directly underneath that ramp when suddenly I heard a very loud rumbling noise. First thing that crossed my mind was what on earth are those workers doing up there. I wanted to slow down to see what they were doing. But somehow, my right leg just pressed on the accelerator even harder and there I sped off. Just as I came out from the ramp, the whole thing collapsed! I was shocked. If I were to slow down or if there was a jam, I might not be able to make it out on time. I was so close!

It was amazing at how God reminded me of His faithfulness and then to let me experience it. It was not that God loves me more and despised the driver behind me. And I did not glory over that I was saved and the person behind me was not. Although I could not comprehend the reason why all of these happen, I know I can still trust in God’s heart that everything is according to His timing and plan. I know that my life and everyone else’s life is in His hands. Through this incident, I was reminded of Psalm 8:1-4. The God who created the universe would spend the time to care for us who are just mere human. Indeed, what are men that you (God) are mindful of? If God truly does not care about us, long time ago, He would have not sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to come and suffer on the cross for the sins and crimes He did not commit. It was for our salvation that Jesus continued to endure on the cross till ‘it is finished’ so that all of us can have the hope and to have everlasting life through His Son. If God had already forgotten about us and if Jesus did not come, our faith is then futile and we will still be hopeless in our sins (1 Corinthians 15:17-19). It is not easy, but I find that through our every day walk with Him that we come to know a little bit more about how great our God is.
When I consider your heavens,
The work of your fingers,
The moon and the stars,
Which you have set in place,
What is mankind that you are mindful of them,
Human beings that you care for them? (Psalm 8:3-4)
God paid a huge price to save us because he loves us so much. Hence, dear youths of God, never ever think that God has forgotten about you even when situation seems to be telling otherwise. Whenever you feel like God has forgotten about you, just look back at His cross and you will know that He has never once forgotten about you.
