PWMC – Community Day 2016

Jocelyn shares her thoughts on the recent church community day…

“It was my first time attending Community Day and I attended as a helper. The theme for Community Day  was ‘One church, One mission, One soul’. It was held in conjunction with our church’s 125th anniversary. It was definitely a fun-filled day. We started with a simple and short praise and worship session. After that, the church members moved around in groups to station games.

The station games are meant to help the church members know better of ministries that are done by our church. This Community Day was a very good way to build relationships between church members, learning how to work as a team, also as a church, a community, and coming together as one body of Christ. Throughout the day, each group collected verses from the book of Romans after playing games.

These verses are: Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9, 5:1, 8:1 and 8:39. These verses were meant to depict the ‘Romans road to salvation’, it is one of the ways to share the gospel to our non-christian family and friends. At the end of the day, we had a time of prayer to give thanks to God and we all had a good time of food and fellowship.”

The Gospel Transforms…KVBC-NextGen 2016

Josephine shares her experience at the conference:

“It was a great experience being able to attend KVBC Next Gen for the first time. KVBC Next Gen equipped us with the knowledge of reading the bible in context and teaching others the same thing. It’s really encouraging to have met like-minded people to share their knowledge and experience in order to train us to teach.

Throughout the conference, I’ve definitely learned a lot but it wasn’t just knowledge and skills that I got. I was constantly reminded of the gospel that transforms. The bible talks (1 Kings and Titus) tell us about God who fulfils His promises to us unworthy people, ultimately through His son, Jesus Christ whom He sent to redeem us from our sins. And now, as Christians, we do good because of the incredible good that has been done to us. (quoted from Pastor Dan Lee).

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age while we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”  Titus 2:11-14″
