KVBCnextgen2018…

nxtgen-gospel partnership

23 delegates from PWMC attended this year’s conference; out of which were – 6 Josh Hse leaders + 4 AMPs + 1 friend of Josh Hse (jasmine).

Here are the reflections from those who attended…

Chris Kang (strand 1) : “As this was my first time attending KVBC NextGen, I was surprised and amazed at the opportunity to meet like-minded people who were keen to participate in this gospel partnership by putting Jesus first. This conference was very helpful to me to grow in maturity as a Christian. I now understand the importance of reading the bible in context, understanding it correctly, and teaching it to others as well.

In the talks about the book of Joshua, I’ve learnt that God’s faithfulness never changes – He fulfilled every promise He made to the Israelites. God fought a war of holiness – a holiness that requires our allegiance to Him. It’s either we are devoted to God, or devoted to destruction. I’ve also learnt that the church should not just be centered on purity of worship, but also to be united as one in Christ; grounded in the same truths of the gospel.

Furthermore, in the talks about Philippians, I was reminded of not just doing God’s work for him, but it is God doing His work through us; that I am saved to serve the one true God who sent Jesus into the world to justify us through his blood. It is because of Jesus that we are now citizens of heaven, and because we are citizens of heaven we should always behave like one worthy of the gospel. We are to do things out of love and not of selfish ambitions. It was a very encouraging conference to have attended and to see the attitude of those who were eager to serve God; by putting others first, no matter what their status or titles were (doctor, dato’ etc).”

Jasmine P’ng (strand 1) : NextGen is a conference which teaches us not only to read the bible but also to prepare a bible study. NextGen has taught me many things about creating a bible study. Knowing the model of creating and writing one has not only made creating a bible study easier but also helped me understand a bible study clearer. It also taught me how to read the bible verses in context and content which made God’s words a lot clearer and easier to understand for me. I’d recommend NextGen to anyone who’s willing to take reading God’s word more seriously.

Goh Yi Lin (strand 2) : “Getting sick half way through the conference is definitely NOT a good thing! But, here’s what I’ve learnt:

  1. The Bible is a one big story centered on Jesus. (How God brings His people into the new creation); that God sent His son, Jesus to die on the cross to wash away our sins and has risen from the grave so that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life.
  2. Biblical Theology is the study of God’s unfolding plan in the Bible and how Christ is the fulfillment of God’s unfolding plan.
  3. We don’t fulfill the Old Testament – it is Jesus who fulfills it. To apply the OT to ourselves, we must first apply it through Jesus. So that means: Old Testament > Christ > New Testament > Us!
  4. It is important to have partnership in the Gospel, for we are citizens of heaven. To have the same mindset with each other and with Christ.; and to prioritize the Gospel as a citizen of heaven so that the Gospel is shared to others.  (Philippians 1:1-26)

Lastly…Take care of yourself to avoid sickness! You will miss a lot from the camp!”
